Teacher learn how to win the lottery

Nineteen New Jersey Sequoia School teachers and staff members couldn’t believe it when science teacher Drew Viscidy called an emergency meeting of the school’s coffee club early one morning last winter.

First, he raised a media screen over the blackboard. There, pasted to the blackboard, was a New Jersey Pick 6 Lottery ticket — a winning lottery ticket that earned the group a check for $2 million in the Feb. 7 drawing.

“They all hugged and celebrated,” said New Jersey Lottery spokeswoman Judith Drucker in describing how Viscidy recounted the event to her. Drucker confirmed the winners’ identities Tuesday.
Viscidy told her he couldn’t sleep the night before because of his excitement.

Drucker said Viscidy accepted the check from the Lottery in April.

If the check is divided 19 ways, the lucky winners should each receive $105,263 — a lot of coffee money.

The group plays seven Pick 6 tickets and two Powerball tickets each week, Drucker said. The winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven in Evesham.
